Talking about Alumni involvement from abroad - here goes a personal one:
Bernardis (Nan) Moreno Rosado (''72) is attending the University of New Orleans seeking her Bachelors degree in Business Administration – Computer Information Systems.
Besides being a student, Nan works as an Administrative Assistant for the Health, Safety and Environmental department of Motiva Norco Refinery, a part of the Shell Oil Company. Nan saw an opportunity for her employer to make a donation to Belize and pursued it. Motiva donated a fire truck to Belize. This truck is currently on its way to Belize and the Prime Minister, along with the Fire Chief will decide where this truck will serve best. (Picture is attached. Daughter is also pictured.)
Nan's daughter, Sophie, is Miss Belize of Louisiana and she had spoken at Sacred Heart last year during her visit. Sophie had obtained many gifts from Motiva Norco Refinery which she distributed during her parade through San Ignacio for the independence celebrations. At this same time she spoke with the Prime Minister about this truck, asking how her mother could make this delivery a reality.
Nan's contribution does not only include her, but involves her family as well. She would like to encourage others that may find the opportunity, to get involved in as many ways as possible. Help is needed at her Alma Mater - Sacred Heart - but help is also needed throughout the entire country of Belize. As involved as Nan is with her job, and school, she makes the time to stay actively involved with the Belize Association of Louisiana finding every possible way to help Belize.
